Skylight Flashing Repair in Chestnut, IL

Skylight Flashing Repair in Chestnut, IL

Skylight flashing repair in Chestnut, IL fixes the most common source of skylight leaks. The flashing is the metal that ties the skylight into the roof. On a pitched shingle roof it has three parts: a sill piece at the bottom, step flashing woven into each course of shingles along the sides, and a head piece at the top that sheds water around the curb.

When any of those pieces fail, water gets under the shingles. We see bent step flashing from foot traffic, aluminum pieces corroded where they touch treated lumber, and flashing that was never woven in at all, just caulked on top of the shingles. Caulk-only flashing jobs usually fail within a few years.

Our crew at Chestnut, IL Skylight Repair removes the shingles around the skylight, pulls the damaged flashing and installs new pieces the right way, lapped so every drop runs downhill and out. We add ice and water membrane under the flashing on the upslope side, where snow and debris sit the longest.

Skylight flashing repair is often cheaper than a full replacement if the unit itself is sound. Call (833) 548-0266 and we will tell you honestly which one you need.
